Beautiful Places to Visit in Osaka of Japan
Osaka, one of Japan's largest cities has exotic places to visit and make your Osaka trip the most memorable. The origins of Osaka dates back to mythological era of Japanese Empire. Today the city has grown into one of the most modern in Japan what with futuristic skyline complemented by an impressive modern architecture blended with its oriental culture. Its world-class status is cemented by its many cultural institutions, superb museums, and art galleries, ancient temples to ultra-modern buildings, entertainment, theater, and music venues. Here is the list of places where one cannot miss to visit Osaka.
Osaka Castle: Osaka Castle completed in 1586 in just three years and built by famed Japanese warrior and politician Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Highlights include the five-story, 42-meter-tall main tower containing exhibits on the history of the castle and the city, as well as superb views over Osaka from its upper floors. Also of interest in Osaka Castle Park is the Hokoku Shrine dedicated to Hideyoshi and his family.
Shitenn?-ji Temple: This is the best-known temple in Osaka. This temple can be traced back to 59 AD which happens to be the Japan's first Buddhist temple. It was rebuilt several times over the centuries, the most recent renovation being in 1960s.
This is one of the oldest and the magnificent temples in Osaka. Apart from this, other temples like five-story pagoda, and a number of other exquisitely decorated buildings including the Golden Pavilion with its fine statues and paintings, the Lecture Hall, and a lovely covered corridor linking three of the site's gates. Other buildings of note in the complex include the teaching area, a pharmacy and hospital, along with a pleasant garden.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan: One of the world's biggest attractions this is worth exploring. Looking a little as if it might be made of giant Lego blocks, this walk-through aquarium takes guests on a fascinating tour of a number of marine habitats, including the Pacific Ocean and Antarctica, along with the Great Barrier Reef and Monterey Bay. A variety of Japanese marine life is also featured with freshwater species and native reptiles and mammals. This aquarium has 27 tanks, the biggest being nine meters deep and capable of easily accommodating large marine life including manta rays and sharks.
Tenn?ji Park and Zoo: Osaka's largest green space, Tenn?ji Park serves as a place of respite from this otherwise busy city. Noted for its many fragrant flower beds and, in spring, its cherry blossoms, the park is a delight to explore thanks also to its many fun sculptures, ponds, and bridges. The Tenn?ji Zoo was opened in 1915 and features a variety of species including lions, giraffes, and elephants, housed in such a way that they seem to be roaming the African savannah. Also worth a visit is the hippo pool and reptile house. Besides these, there are several magnificent places in Osaka worth visiting and enjoying such as Osaka Science Museum, The Umeda Sky Building, Universal Studios Japan, The National Museum of Art, Twin Towers: Ts?tenkaku and the Kobe Port Tower, The Tempozan Ferris Wheel, and several other places that leave you the most memorable sweet memories.
